A Spiritual Evolution 
Hello, I will have 25 years in 1 week and 1 day (if I make it). I began to wonder what 25 years meant, googled it and read your article about what 25 years felt like. What you said about “sober time doesn’t vanquish ego” is so so true. I’m struggling with life stuff but it’s almost like I’m not supposed to talk about it because the youngsters see me as a pillar of non-ego, truth and wisdom. Reading Vernon Howard again, I’m reminded to “alter what I accept as true”. Truth is, in 25 years all I’ve really learned is that I really don’t know very much at all. Thank you

Thanks for this comment and congrats on your 25! 🥳. My sponsor has 40 years and one of the reasons she’s my sponsor is that I love how tells on herself and laughs. She can report on all kinds of petty thoughts passing selfish motivations, long-standing resentments that return, tensions in her marriage, and all kinds of ups and downs in life – and she chuckles about them and makes me laugh because I know exactly what she’s talking about. Calling out her own defects IS her wisdom, along with kindness and service and all that stuff. Not ceasing to feel them.
There’s a term called spiritual bypassing – denying feelings (to ourselves and others) because we feel we ought not have them. It’s dangerous. 😱 Meditation communities have written on it. Time to Google! 😄
